Who we are
Spenzo is a personal money manager operated by Synops. This policy applies to the Spenzo apps for iOS and Android and the Spenzo web app. If you have a question about it, email mahfoosubaiahamed@gmail.com.
What we collect
Account details
When you sign up we store your email address, a securely hashed version of your password, and the display name you choose. We also keep your preferred currency and timezone so that balances and monthly periods are shown correctly for you.
Financial data you enter
Everything you record in Spenzo is stored so we can show it back to you: accounts and their balances, transactions, categories, budgets, loans, and the groups and shared expenses you take part in. Spenzo does not connect to your bank. We only hold what you type in.
Shared groups
When you join a group, the other members can see your name and the expenses and settlements recorded in that group. They cannot see your personal accounts, budgets or other transactions.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, we store a device push token and whether it belongs to an iOS or Android device, so we can send budget alerts and reminders. Turning notifications off in your device settings stops this, and you can remove the token by signing out.
Usage records
We record when your account was last active and keep a log of each statement you generate (its format, date range, row count and size) to enforce monthly limits. We do not keep the statement files themselves.
What we do not collect
- No advertising or analytics trackers are included in the apps.
- No location, contacts, photos or other device data are accessed.
- No bank credentials. Spenzo never asks for, or stores, your online banking login.
How we use it
Your data is used to run Spenzo for you: to show your balances and trends, evaluate budgets, split group expenses, generate the statements you request, and send the notifications you opt into. We also send account emails, such as password resets and email verification. We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
Who we share it with
We share data only with the providers needed to run the service:
- Google Cloud hosts the Spenzo API and database, in the Singapore region.
- Expodelivers push notifications to your device, and through it Apple and Google's notification services.
- Our email provider, to deliver account emails such as password resets.
We may also disclose data if required by law. We never share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Security
All traffic between the apps and our servers is encrypted with TLS. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. Every record is tied to your account, and the API only ever returns your own data to you. On your phone, your session token is kept in the device's secure storage.
Your choices and rights
- Export. You can download any period as a PDF or CSV statement from inside the app at any time.
- Correct. You can edit or delete any account, transaction, budget, loan or group entry yourself.
- Delete. You can delete your account and all of its data yourself, from Profile in the app or Settings on the web. It takes effect immediately and cannot be undone. If you would rather we do it, email mahfoosubaiahamed@gmail.com from the address you signed up with.
Depending on where you live you may have additional rights, such as access, portability or objection. Email us and we will help.
Retention
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When your account is deleted, all of its data is deleted with it. Backups are rotated on a short schedule.
Children
Spenzo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. For a material change we will also tell you in the app or by email.
